I graduated from Capella University in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and I am proud of it. Technology was much different then, so online learning wasn’t very interactive like today. It required a considerable amount of independent work. Overall, I remember the professors to be helpful and the staff responsive. Because I had to work and go to school, this was a way to complete my education. I believe that Capella is a good school for a serious, independent learner.

I typically don't write reviews. However, after reading all the negative reviews, I felt compelled to write about my experience. I don't know if the undergraduate and graduate programs differ from the doctoral ones. Still, I started in October 2023 working on my Doctorate in Human Services with a concentration in organizational management and have had a great experience. The professors are very supportive and respond to concerns within 24 hours. The coursework is challenging and requires extensive reading, but I have no complaints about the professors or the school. My advice to current and future learners is to read the Capella Policy and abide by the plagiarism and late policy. Reference and cite ALL of your work and you'll be successful.

I am reading these reviews and noticed that the bulk of the reviews are based on professor experience or financial aid. I would like to speak to the doctoral program and the rigor of the degree. Capella University is a great program and challenges scholars to employ divergent thinking. The professors are great and invest time in making sure that you understand the principles and expectations of each class. Yes, some classes are more difficult than others. However, that is the challenge that makes the DBA program respected. I would highly recommend Capella University if you are up for the challenge and want to actually learn something. Go into the program with an open mindset and you will be successful. #Capellaproud #CapellaUniversitygraduate

First of all, Doctoral programs require serious dedication. It does not matter where you attend, it's the same requirement levels. There is no handholding. Learners are responsible for their outcomes. Sure can situations be challenging, yes; but the desired result has accountability from the learner and the university. The majority of great experiences from the university are not posted as reviews. Use your resources on social media groups and get real feedback or experiences from graduates. As a Capella Alumnae, I can say the program was worth the sacrificed time and money. I highly recommend the FlexPath program for your educational needs!

My initial impressions with Capella were excellent. I was able to register with ease, almost all of my professors were excellent. Being between jobs, I was able to dedicate a heavy amount of time and effort to the DBA Flex program, and after a relatively short while, I was just north of 50% complete. Leading up to this point, my only complaint would have been that my academic advisor was hands off to the point of being abrasive and reluctant to offer assistance with just about anything. Fortunately, I’m a fairly independent learner, so, this was unprofessional but not a deal breaker.
Around this time, I ended up in the hospital for just over a week with a life threatening concern. I was dropped from my course erroneously, despite still being active. In conjunction with this, I was dropped from the program as a whole. No contact at all from my advisor or anyone else. Due to the hospital, it was roughly two weeks until I’d realized that their website wasn’t simply malfunctioning, as I’d grown used to it doing for the duration of my attendance– I was actually dropped.
Mind you, I submitted both hospital records and two doctor’s notes from my inpatient care to the school, as is standard during abnormal events. No response. When I was finally able to speak with my advisor, I was told “sorry, I don’t deal with this sort of thing,” by my advisor. So, I sought out another individual. I was informed that there was unfortunately nothing that could be done, and that my only option was to transfer over to the Guided path. I was told it was standard and would be no problem.
A few weeks later, I was rejected on the basis of my application, despite it being even more well rounded than when I’d initially applied a year prior. I’ve reached out to several individuals at the school multiple times, and have yet to get a single communication back outside of automated emails. If this is at all what like anyone else has experienced, and not a one off, I would not trust this institution with my time or money. With as much experience and money as the owning entity Strategic Education Inc has, they can and should be expected to do much better.

For me Capella RN to BSN now is a scammer. My first semester I paid for 2classes almost $6000, every other week I have to pay $890. For 10 weeks. On week6 assignment I had issues to submit my assignment, I called IT multiple times, they couldn’t fixed it the problem, I called my advisor she told me to email my instructor, I did, my instructor told me to call IT. They tried but they couldn’t fix it. I was so mad and frustrated, I used my laptop to find out what was wrong, finally my laptop did a good job and I was able to send my week 6 assignment. My instructor graded it. Everything was perfect. I continue the rest of my assignments for my semester.
After the semester ended, I called my advisor because I want to register for the next semester, she said I can’t. She told me to email them to find out what’s going on. I emailed them. They said I'm out of the program because I use another system. I didn’t want me to appear on the program. They knew I had issues on week 6. My instructor emailed them and letting them know I had issues. They said I'm out of the program. They wanted me to take the same classes I passed already. I worked so hard, it’s not easy when you have family to take care and you work nights shift, I slept 3 to 4hr a day because I have to sacrifice myself to get what I want. But Capella scam me. I’m trusting God, will continued my education with my eyes open.

Capella University is a total scam as they take any financial aid that they can from their students to cover hidden costs that other universities would never charge their students. They set impossible expectations, due to the fact that they do not allow their students to have access to the JSTOR database and they expect students to write doctoral papers with only the Sage database. Basically, if you attend any University, you're going to pay about $4,000 for your full-time semester and get $1,000 refund or more back from the University, however, Capella pockets all of that money leaving the student with nothing.
They put you in classes with instructors that's been very little time with the students and grade very critically. A lot of their assignments are messed up because they ask you to answer 10 different topics in one essay. The University commits plagiarism by having students do weekly activities and then expect the student to put that information in their papers without any source information. This has been one of the worst experiences I have ever dealt with in my life and I really regret going to the school.

RUN. AS FAR AS YOU CAN. And don't look back. The advisors, including financial aid, academic coaches are ALL over the place. Every time you call you get different answers, they have no idea what the hell they're doing. They don't even take proper notes when you speak to someone on the phone so when you call again to follow up, you get a completely different answer. They overcharge for credits.
You can EASILY take the same courses from a different online school for WAY cheaper credits, it's such a scam. If you're in project management, good luck with the disclosure about not being able to use the software if you have a MAC. They don't tell you this when you enroll, as if they expect you to know what software you need and what type of computer it's compatible with. The way the whole thing is organized is dysfunctional and they could care less! They're only out for your money. I wish I had known this before I started, I would have DEFINITELY went with other schools that are BETTER academically and CHEAPER with a TRAINED staff!

DO NOT DO IT! YOU WILL BE OUT THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS! I enrolled back in 2019 in their Masters of Nurse Education program. They call this a Flex Path program and when the pandemic hit, I needed to drop the course and work in the hospitals. I did make this known to the staff that I could not continue in this course. We spoke in nauseum to their academic team about how I needed to pause my courses and complete at a later date because I could not complete while working. I thought this was resolved and now I just got a letter from collections for $2,555 for the courses I NEVER completed.
I spoke to this man in the finance department who basically said, "sucks to be you" and told me I have no choice and have to pay for the courses (even though I did NOT complete them). I understand paying for a course that I started and dropped, but they are making me pay for the entire semester!! Real colleges DO NOT do this and that is how you know this is a scam and should not hold the title of University. They don't care about you, your work or your life outside their money hungry, scam of a system.

Just as the last comment stated. I was 2 weeks from graduating. The school emailed me saying that someone else was submitting my work. This isn't possible as I always wrote my papers in the ICU when I had downtime. I submitted emails, and texts from my teachers. I submitted letters from colleagues who witnessed my endless nights of writing papers. The school expelled me and took my money. They failed me in every course and said that I provided no proof. I submitted all that I had and showed actual proof of the legitimacy of my papers. None were plagiarized either. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND TIME!! AVOID THIS SCHOOL!
