As a Canadian, I chose Capella University for its innovative FlexPath learning, which is competency-based and largely self-directed. This model worked perfectly, allowing me to balance a full-time job right after undergrad. I am deeply thankful for Capella’s flexible format, enabling me to pursue my education alongside my career.

Capella University isn’t for those who expect a traditional, spoon-fed education. Here, students take full responsibility for their learning. My professors were outstanding,... Read More

The rigorous program involved extensive reading and writing, which I loved. Capella provided excellent resources that were crucial for my success. It wasn’t easy, but that’s what made the program robust. I graduated with a 4.00 GPA, a testament to the hard work, discipline, and determination required.

The complaints about technology issues or delayed feedback are, in my experience, unfounded. While I occasionally had minor technical hiccups with the Canvas platform, these were minor inconveniences rather than major obstacles. Capella is in the process of improving these systems, and I expect smoother experiences for future students.

The rigorous assessment criteria in FlexPath, requiring proficiency or higher in every competency, ensured a high standard of learning. Unlike traditional models, which allow you to pass with a cumulative score, FlexPath demands excellence in every area. This meticulousness improved my writing and critical thinking skills tremendously.

Capella’s flexibility was a lifesaver, especially when I was promoted. Traditional schools might have discouraged pursuing graduate studies alongside a demanding job, but Capella allowed me to adjust my assessment dates accordingly.

As a Gen Z student, I appreciated Capella’s modern approach to education. I don't like being micromanaged and I thrive in environments that value independence and self-motivation. The practical, real-life assessments were invaluable, including presentations, papers, and statistical analyses. The meticulous feedback on every detail, from formatting to colloquialism, prepared me for real-world expectations.

Regarding tuition, Capella is transparent and has no hidden fees. The subscription model is straightforward and objective, reflecting a modern approach to education financing. Those complaining about billing likely haven’t paid close attention to the clearly stated policies and procedures.

Overall, Capella University is an excellent choice for self-motivated, disciplined learners. The FlexPath model is the future of education, offering a rigorous, flexible, and rewarding learning experience for anyone around the world! (Literally speaking). I proudly recommend Capella to anyone ready to take charge of their education and career.

My experience as a student at Capella is one of profound disappointment. From intoxicated professors at my Atlanta residency week to the Supreme Court case Sweet v Cardona, this university would never have been selected for my education had I known the level of unethical standards exhibited. I do not recommend this university.

The good, the instructors and curriculum was outstanding. The tech support as well. The bad, good luck getting to speak to a coach or tutor. Coach never returns any form of communication I spoke to mine maybe twice in 2.5 years. Tutor takes 2 weeks to book, they will tell you they can't help you but feel free to book another time. You are mostly on your own🤦‍♀️ the ugly, the financial aid is soooo messed up I must have missed a week or more of work because I had so many issues I finally had to take... Read More

As a recent graduate from the Flexpath DNP program with an award date of December 31, 2023, I would like to offer some insights and advice for prospective students. Firstly, it's important to recognize that while admission to the program is assured, many students set unrealistic expectations regarding the timeline for completing the program. Additionally, there is a tendency to overestimate one's research and writing skills. It is widely acknowledged among alumni that the Flexpath DNP program is... Read More

I earned both a masters and doctorate degree from Cappella. I thought it was a great school and much more challenging than I first anticipated. The instructors were great; very professional and caring. Many of my instructors at Cappella were teaching part time and had other prestigious careers. I would absolutely recommend Cappella to any working adult going back to school.

I was misled by the financial aid department! I was told the same thing by two individuals there regarding my financial aid disbursem*nt. When I called again and spoke to another person in financial aid they told me something else. No help, and it is resulting me in having to pay $2250 for a semester out of pocket. I decided to withdraw from Capella and when I spoke to the academic advisor she did not ask me what the reason was or if there was anything they could do to help. They do not care about... Read More

My experience with Capella University has been frustrating, especially regarding charges on my account. They initially stated students have 21 days to drop a class, but later said it's before the first Friday. This inconsistency can greatly impact students. Clear and consistent communication is essential. To add to the frustration, I dropped my class on day 9, well within the initial 21-day window, but was still charged $772. This discrepancy in charges and deadlines needs addressing. Overall, I... Read More

I graduated with a PhD in Counseling Studies in 2013. When I first enrolled, Capella touted that it would be easy for me to advance my career after graduation. I still have not found a job that uses this degree, except being an adjunct professor. The sad thing is I will never find a job that makes enough money to pay back all my student loans. I definitely do not recommend Capella University to anyone.

I chose the flex path for both my BSN and MSN-education. I'm not a great test taker and now that I've been a practicing nurse for 14 years, with parenting and other responsibilities, this path worked well for me. I saw some nurses complete their degrees in one or two billing cycle but I took a little over a year for each degree. Flex path allowed me to write papers on my expertise, hospice. I liked the FlexPath format and how I was able to move along. My academic counselor was always helpful but like any other school, there are areas of improvement. It is a good school to attend. The curriculum offered is current and not outdated. If you go through the FlexPath format, be prepared to right and work for it. This degree helped me obtain a promotion in my job.
