EVE Search - T3 Production questions. (2)

Posted - 2011.01.05 18:45:00 -[1]
First I'll start by saying I've never built a ship/module/reaction in my entire time in Eve.

I'm writing because after acquiring almost 90million SP in PvP related skills, I've run out of things to train that break things, and am interested in learning to build some of the ships I love use.

I've currently been residing in a wormhole with several friends with our alts for many months, there are quite a few of us, however none of us do PI, or Industry.

I have no shortage of components/materials available to me in order to build with, and I was looking at industry as a drag and drop game to kill free-time when things are slow.

So, my question is, is it possible to build T3 ships entirely out of whats available in our c6 wormhole?

If so, what sort of skills/facilities/structures would I need to bring in to run the research/reactions/manufacturing.

Any feedback would be welcome, I'm kinda running out of things to do in the game ^_^

Google is your friend. Few examples :

http://www.eve-guides.com/ui/tech3.php

If you're not prepared to read up on any of the above, then stick to PVP.

You will still need to build/import the POS structures and related K-space datacores (e.g. Hydromagnetics for Defensive subs).
Also note, manufacturing T3 hulls require extreme skills, look it up.

Thanks for the info, I had read the eve-guides summary last night, and had a few unresolved questions about it. But your eveuniversity link ironed out quite a few as its far more in depth than anything I'd found to date.

Thanks ^_^

Looks like I have something to chew on for a while.

Do people recommend starting with the gas/polymers/components to get familiar and work towards the subsystems and eventually hulls? Or don't bother until you can do the whole thing?

When you look at it, the whole T3 chain can be divided into 3 major process or categories :

1) Polymer production
2) Hull and subsystem assembly
3) Reverse engineering

Process 1) need zero skills except Anchoring. However, you will probably need to babysit certain polymer processes.

The rest require a certain amount of skill level to even start decently, highest being hull manufacturing. The market for T3 BPCs suck for the highly sought after subs, so generally it's not cost effective to purely do subsystem assembly .... though hull might be a different story, if not for the high skill cost.

Reverse engineering is a hit and miss affair, the key roadbloack here are the racial decryptors and relic prices. You will need to evaluate the RE profitability of wrecked, malfunctioning and intact relics ... hint intact works best for Caldari.

In the end, start with whatever rocks your boat given the choices.

Last questions, as I've for the most part calculated out how much ISK/SP it takes to get into the process.

I see for polymer production it lists.

"To run polymer reactions you need a total of 5 structures:

* 1 Polymer Reactor Array
* 1 Normal Silo (to hold the mineral input)
* 2 Biochemical Silo (to hold the 2 fullerites inputs)
* 1 Hybrid Polymer Silo (to hold the polymer output) "

Is the process for Component Assembly Arrays and Subsystem Assembly Arrays similar? The wiki lists only those structures, I'm wondering though if it needs specific silos that aren't necessarily named, or any silo at all.

Bear in mind I've never built anything, though the alt I have for gang skills/triage carrier can build several t2 ships as well as capitals. I won't be insulted if you get very specific on details folks "should" know.

Lastly, is it realistic to base the entire process out of a single POS that has ~4k CPU to spare. I've never had an interest in fitting anything but

lots of guns to a POS ever before ;)

Thanks for the information so far!

the component and sub system assembly array's do not need silo's
and you can use a coupling array for the minerals as they're very small and don't need a silo to hold them as this save cpu

Short answer yes.

Long answer you may not want to, since that could involve waiting for a needed C70 cloud to spawn or mining low end minerals for the reactions.

A better approach would usually be to specialize in the areas that your system is good for, sell excess materials and buy what you are lacking.

Also if you have never built anything I really recommend practicing a bit with T1 production to learn some of the basics of how blueprints work, and also to get an idea of how to figure out the profitablility of a product.

No, assembly arrays are basically POS factories. These are standalone structures that functions like a standard corp hangar; infact they can also be used as a temp/adhoc corp hangar or loot storage. Production is easy, treat it like station factories. Just pop whatever's needed into one of the corp hangar division and run it (after correctly configuring the input/output sources).

For T3 manufacturing, all you need is just a Subsystem Assembly Array. It manufactures both hull and susbsystems. One (or two) should be adequate slots for a small corp's needs as subsystems only take mere (~16mins) minutes. Only the hull takes about a day.

Entire what process for about ~4k CPU to spare? The polymer production?
For purely subs only, you're gonna need 8 types of polymer ... so it's obvious you're going to have to make for some allowances.
The hull requires an extra type - C3-FTM Acid .... so with the whole chain, you need to produce a total of 9 types of polymers.

If you're doing this part-time, I don't see any issue in piggy-backing the single POS. Just swap the reactions as needed. If you want to step up the production scale, assuming you can find/import consistent raw material sources for the polymer reactions, then you'd probably need to dedicate a POS for this depending on how large you want it to be.

First for first timers, I'd say start small and scale up as needed.
